Smack Mellon
Smack Mellon, located in Brooklyn, New York utilized the Warhol Initiative Fund to begin the renovation work required to apply for a Public Assembly Permit. The architecture firm Sage and Coombe Architects prepared drawings for the renovation which included adding bathrooms on the gallery level and widening the stairs at both egresses of its public space. The organization retained a Structural Engineer to prepare the drawings for the structural steel work necessary to widen the opening in the concrete slab to accommodate wider stairs at the rear egress. Once the drawings were completed, Smack Mellon submitted and received approval for their plans from the New York City Department of Buildings.
