For Self Help Graphics in Los Angeles, CA the Warhol Initiative Grant aided in a forward thinking move to its new location at 1300 East 1st Street. With a commitment to serve its community, SHG found an ideal location in Boyle Heights to continue to advance latino culture through art. This relocation to the Boyle Heights area is exciting not only for Self Help Graphics, but also for the 14th Council District. With the use of the Initiative Fund,  SHG was able to maintain programming up to the time of its move and transition to the new space, which took place within a 4-week period. Printmaking and youth programming was able to continue up until the last couple of weeks prior to SHG’s physical move. The organization used the funds specifically for additional rent during the transition of the move, moving labor and supplies, mover costs for printmaking facilities, and lastly for minimal improvements to the new space including construction of walls, sinks, and storage for print and intaglio studios.
