Carving Through Borders, Galería de la Raza

Carving through Borders, an exhibition of 13 oversized woodblock prints will be on view at Galería de la Raza in San Francisco from Saturday, August 2nd to Friday, September 19th, 2014. The woodblocks, commissioned by CultureStrike, “illustrate various aspects of migration with a local, national, or worldwide scope”.

a/wake in the water, a film, video, and new media exhibition, will be on view at the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts from Thursday, August 14th, to Sunday, November 9th, 2014. From the MoCADA website, the exhibition utilizes “found footage, staged reenactments, and performative paralysis to expose the systematic neglect and lingering repercussions Black communities face in the aftermath of disaster.” Additional narratives “explore impending dystopic and apocalyptic futures to further analyze the state of environmental justice as it functions within the Diaspora.”
