On March 28th Aurora Picture Show will present Surreal/Reel. Friends and family are encouraged to bring blankets and picnics to a free outdoor screening co-presented with the Menil Collection. Curated by Aurora Picture Show’s Mary Magsamen, this special screening presents Surrealist works from artists such as Hans Richter, Man Ray, Maya Deren, and Magritte:

On March 15th LAXART opened Patricia Fernández: Paseo de los Melancólicos. “Spanning woodwork and artist books, painting, research, writing and recorded family folklore, Spanish-born, LA-based Fernández’s Paseo de los Melancólicos retraces the trail of Republicans that fled as the Spanish Civil War came to a close”:

On Wednesday April 2nd, Machine Project in Los Angeles will be hosting a Textile Design Workshop from 7-10pm. Led by graphic designer Gail Swanlund, attendees will be able to learn the basics of designing print patterns for textiles:
